Artist's Comments

This was my summer project—decorating the top of a desk that was supposed to go in my first apartment. Unfortunately, the desk was crappy plastic laminated particle board that started falling apart, so I tossed it but still brought the top of the desk with me. It’s currently sitting in my closet as I still haven’t figured out a way to display it.

Acrylic on top of collaged Chinese newspaper, about 47” long by 23” tall. Unfortunately, a lot gets lost in photographs; there’s a lot of layers of matte medium that I spread on that gave everything a nice, translucent, floating effect. There’s metallic copper pigment as well. This thing was damned hard to photograph since It’s covered in ultra shiny varnish—which also gives more of an appearance of water.

No matter where you are, everyone is always connected.
The idea with the chinese newspaper is just unique - the effect it does on the background is simple wow!

Very good job, I adore it.
And I'd love to see the original desk -

thanks for sharing!
